Adult ADHD Assessment & Treatment

COMING SOON

ADHD in adults is more common than most people realise — and more commonly missed. For years, symptoms like poor concentration, impulsivity, disorganisation, and emotional dysregulation get written off as character flaws rather than recognised for what they are. The toll this takes — on careers, relationships, and self-worth — can be enormous. A diagnosis isn’t just a label. It’s an explanation, a turning point, and for many people, a relief.
If you’re an adult aged 18 or over wondering whether ADHD might be part of your story, we’re here to help — with specialist assessments delivered online, at a time that works for you.

What is Adult ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting how the brain regulates attention, impulse control, and behaviour. It frequently goes unrecognised well into adulthood. Adult ADHD presents differently from childhood ADHD — hyperactivity may reduce over time, but difficulties with attention, emotional regulation, organisation, and time management often remain significant and affect work, relationships, and daily life.

Why a Structured Assessment Matters

A clinically valid ADHD diagnosis requires a structured assessment by a qualified specialist — not a questionnaire alone. PrimeLife uses the DSM-5 Diagnostic criteria and applies evidence-based diagnostic tools, supported by a collaborative informant questionnaire completed by someone who knows you well. This approach distinguishes ADHD from conditions with overlapping symptoms and produces a clinical diagnostic outcome.

Who This Service is For

This service is for adults aged 18 and over who suspect they may have ADHD and want a formal, structured assessment. It is for people who have struggled with focus, organisation, or impulsivity throughout their adult lives and who are seeking a clear, written diagnostic outcome. This service is also for those who want clarity after years of being told to try harder, managing symptoms alone, or receiving inconclusive assessments elsewhere. This service is not for under-18s. ADHD assessment and treatment for children and adolescents is outside the scope of PrimeLife's offering. This service is not for those seeking a prescription without completing a full diagnostic assessment.

The Four Pillars of PrimeLife ADHD Care

PrimeLife's ADHD service is built on four connected pillars. Together, they form a complete, clinician-led pathway from initial assessment through to ongoing management.

Assessment

The diagnostic pathway begins with an online self-report intake form covering symptoms, mental health and physical health history, current medication, and developmental background. A collaborative informant questionnaire supports the process. The pathway culminates in a 60 to 90 minute video consultation with Edward Jones, where a full background history will be taken and a diagnosis will be formulated using the validated DIVA 5 diagnostic framework and other diagnostic tools.

Diagnosis

A formal diagnostic outcome is delivered in a dedicated Results and Treatment Planning Consultation of approximately 20 to 30 minutes. This session follows the main diagnostic consultation. A written assessment report is issued regardless of the diagnostic outcome, providing patients with a clear, formal record they can share with their GP, employer, or educational institution.

Treatment

Where ADHD is confirmed, access to the titration and prescription pathway opens. Medication is prescribed only after diagnostic confirmation and under specialist supervision. Titration is carefully managed over 8 to 12 weeks, with regular clinical reviews included throughout to monitor response and adjust the approach as needed.

Ongoing Care

Long-term management includes repeat prescriptions, six-monthly clinical reviews, and annual comprehensive reviews. Shared care with your GP may be considered after you have been on stabilised treatment, subject to GP agreement. Shared care is not guaranteed and depends on the GP's willingness to participate.

How It Works

The pathway from first contact to diagnostic outcome is structured and clinical. Each stage is designed to gather the right information in the right order, ensuring that the final assessment is thorough and defensible.

  1. Complete Your Online Intake Form

Begin by completing an online self-report intake form covering your symptoms, mental health and physical health history, current medication, and developmental background. No payment is required at this stage.

  2. Provide Your Collaborative Informant Details

Identify someone who knows you well and can support the diagnostic process. Their perspective on your symptoms is strongly recommended and improves the accuracy of the assessment. They will be contacted after your deposit is paid to complete a short supporting questionnaire.

  3. Pay Your Deposit

Pay a deposit to secure your assessment and create your own patient account. Your collaborative informant is contacted at this point to complete their supporting questionnaire. A pre-assessment appointment with the clinical team will be arranged to ensure you understand the entire process and and answer any questions before your main consultation. Your clinician will also ask for any additional information which may help with the assessment

  4. Complete Your Full Payment and Attend Your Assessment

After your pre-assessment meeting, you will be asked to complete the full assessment payment. A diagnostic consultation with Edward Jones is then scheduled. This is a mandatory 60 to 90 minute video consultation using the DIVA 5 diagnostic framework. Functional impairment, risk, and differential diagnosis are all considered during this session.

  5. Attend Your Diagnostic Feedback Call and plan your next steps

Attend your Results and Treatment Planning Consultation to discuss your diagnostic outcome. This dedicated session runs approximately 20 to 30 minutes. If ADHD is confirmed, your access to the treatment and titration pathway opens at this point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. PrimeLife’s Adult ADHD Assessment service is delivered entirely online. All consultations take place via video. There is no physical clinic and no in-person appointments. The service is available to adults aged 18 and over across the UK.

The full pathway, from completing your initial intake form through to your Results and Treatment Planning Consultation, takes place remotely. This includes the diagnostic consultation with Edward Jones, which is conducted via a secure video call.

If the assessment does not result in an ADHD diagnosis, a written assessment report is still issued. The report explains the clinical findings and the basis for the diagnostic outcome. This is provided regardless of whether ADHD is confirmed or not.

Where ADHD is not diagnosed, the Results and Treatment Planning Consultation will discuss what the findings do indicate and what steps, if any, may be appropriate next. Access to the titration and prescription pathway requires a confirmed ADHD diagnosis.

The collaborative informant questionnaire is strongly recommended and forms an important part of the diagnostic process. It provides an external perspective on your symptoms across different settings and life stages, which supports diagnostic accuracy.

While the pathway can proceed without a collaborative informant in some circumstances, providing one significantly strengthens the quality of the assessment. The clinical team will discuss this with you during pre-assessment contact if needed.

The DIVA 5 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults) is a structured, validated diagnostic tool used to assess ADHD in adults. It covers both the inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptom domains across two life periods: childhood and adulthood.

During your consultation, Edward Jones will use the DIVA 5 framework alongside functional impairment analysis, risk assessment, and differential diagnosis consideration. The full diagnostic consultation runs approximately 60 to 90 minutes via video.

No. A diagnosis of ADHD does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed. Medication is one component of the treatment pathway and is considered on an individual basis following diagnostic confirmation.

Where medication is appropriate, access to the titration and prescription pathway opens after your confirmed diagnosis. Titration is managed carefully over 8 to 12 weeks with regular clinical reviews. The prescribing decision is made by the clinician based on your full clinical picture.

The timeline varies depending on individual factors including how quickly intake forms are completed and when your collaborative informant returns their questionnaire. In general, patients should expect several weeks between starting the process and receiving their diagnostic outcome.

The diagnostic consultation itself runs approximately 60 to 90 minutes. This is followed by a separate Results and Treatment Planning Consultation of approximately 20 to 30 minutes. If ADHD is confirmed and you proceed to treatment, the titration period runs 8 to 12 weeks.
